How I am not losing my whole mind right now

Hi. Welcome to 2020, a year that had such hope and such promise, just to be completely screwed over by a global pandemic. I like many people in America and around the world work in entertainment or some type of creative field. When Covid-19 reared its ugly head and basically shut the US down many of us in the entertainment world got hit hard. Not with the virus itself but with the damage it is doing to our industry. Now don't get me wrong, all of what a lot of local and state governments are doing in the US is COMPLETELY NEEDED(please for the love of all that is good STAY HOME).

Working in theatre during a global pandemic is pretty much not a thing. So I, who works in theatres and churches, am out of a job for the next however long. I am worried about how I will pay bills for next month, and the month after that, but I am not in full panic mode. There is no sense in panicking over something I have no control over. I can't control what cities put shelter in place orders up, I can't control that meat and toilet paper are sold out in almost every store near my house. What I can control is what I do with my time and energy. So here is a list of things I'm doing to stay sane and creative while I stay home:

1. Reading books and plays for fun

2. Editing my reel and portfolio

3. Drawing on Procreate

4. Making silly videos with my boyfriend

5. Watching good TV shows

6. Watching bad TV shows

7. Taking my dogs on longer walks

8. Getting some certifications I don't normally have time for

9. Getting creative in the kitchen

10. Taking time to breathe

So those are some 10 things I think any creative could work on/do while they are sheltered in place.

Remember y'all, stay home, wash your hands, I'll see you on the other side.

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Sound Designer,

Claudia V. Jenkins

It's the end of May and the global virus is still a thing. It sucks. It sucks for the family of people who are sick or have died. It sucks for people who have lost their jobs. It just sucks. I was luc
